The 2007 National Health Interview Survey (NHIS), which included a comprehensive survey of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) use by Americans, showed that approximately 38 percent of adults use CAM. (http://nccam.nih.gov). The scientific evidence that CAM is effective continues to grow contributing to an increased demand for qualified and competent therapists. Learn about the science and the practice of essential holistic strategies for patients to heal faster with less stress.
This unique course is specifically designed to provide practical applications of stress reduction techniques including diaphragmatic breathing, mindfulness, focused awareness, and systematic relaxation to support patient care with the state-of-the-art scientifically proven clinical protocols. These restorative techniques contribute to overall wellness and may be effectively used to reduce the symptoms associated with anxiety, pain, depression, stress, insomnia, and physical or emotional symptoms related to chronic illness.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
Registered nurses and other healthcare professionals working in various settings.
PURPOSE:
Learn the elements of healing with emphasis on relaxation, breath, mindfulness, and focused awareness to help support healing and immune function.
OBJECTIVES:
All participants will receive instructional materials and a continental breakfast. Those seeking live continuing nursing education will earn 7.0 contact hours after attending the seminar in its entirety and handing in the evaluation form.

Susan Taylor, PhD, is director of educational programs and founder of the Center for Meditation Science, Inc. An accomplished nutritional biochemist and meditation specialist with more than 25 years of experience, and a pioneer in the field of mind/body medicine, Taylor continues to transform our understanding of health.
By understanding the link between psychological function and physical reality and how the mind-body matrix plays a role in our health and healing mechanisms, her approach integrates the best of western medicine with natural healing traditions.
Dr. Taylor is the author and producer of the Healing Power of Meditation and The Vital Energy audio programs, and the author of The Healing Power of Meditation national seminar and the Meditation Specialist™ Competency Training for health care professionals.
She holds a PhD in Nutritional Biochemistry at Case Western Reserve Medical School and a MS in Human Nutrition with Columbia Medical School. Dr. Taylor's research has appeared in the scientific journals Analytical Biochemistry and The American Journal of Physiology. She has also been profiled in many national magazines, including Nursing Spectrum, Healthy Living, Fit Magazine, New Age Journal, Mademoiselle, Country Living, and Cosmopolitan.

Cancellation and Refund Policy for Seminars:
Phone cancellations must be confirmed in writing. Cancellations received four weeks prior to the seminar receive a full refund of the registration fee. Cancellations received after four weeks and up to seven days prior to the seminar are assessed a $50 processing fee. Cancellations received seven days prior to the seminar or “no shows” are nonrefundable. Registration fees are transferable to an upcoming seminar within the same calendar year (expires December 31 each year) or to another participant. In the event that a seminar is cancelled, a full refund will be issued.
